to be billed on a flat fee basis. Some companies work at a percentage or on a "cost
plus" basis. If I do that, then my clients are not sure they are getting what they most
need, which is proper and individualized attention for the money they spend.
I will account to you for my time and expenses. In all cases, the client is the
contracting party for major components for the event (for example, food service,
venue reservation fees, musicians).
My initial interview with you, of up to one hour, is a get-acquainted session, for
which you have no payment obligation. You get to meet and know me, and I get to
know and understand you and what your needs are, so we can decide if we want to
work together. There will usually be a minimum fee for a given event, which I will ask
for up front as a retainer. I will expect periodic payments for lengthy engagements,
and prompt payment for services rendered. There will be a written agreement in
place to formalize every engagement and to make the scope of service clear.
